School to Work Transition Project
This school-based program aims to build the capacity of at risk Indigenous secondary students aged 15 – 18 years in Logan, to improve their school attendance and engagement, and successfully transition into work, further education or training on completion of Year 12.
One on one case management and mentoring is offered, along with wrap around services delivered both inside and outside the school gate to support students and their families.
ABOUT US
The aim of the project is to build the capacity of at risk young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People within Logan schools, to support and stimulate co-design of the School to Work Transition Project, to help improve their school attendance and engagement; and successfully transition into work, further education or training on completion of year 12.
WE ARE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY
Our Gunya Meta mentor will comprehensively assess each youth needs at their first appointment and regularly meet with those youth to discuss and assess their goals and aspirations.
To make sure their goals are achieved, our mentor will prepare Deadly Goal Plan to help them stay focused and on track in realizing their potential at making a difference with their futures.
HELPING YOU FIND EDUCATTION
If you feel like education will be a better stepping stone to employment, we will connect with you with local education and training opportunities to help you gain:
· A year 12 equivalent qualification: or
· A certificate 3 or higher qualification.
SUPPROT WHEN YOU FIND EDUCATION/EMPLOYMENT
When you have found a job or started education, you will receive support in the first weeks of your placement.
This may include:
· Pre-placement coaching and preparation
· Attendance on-site for your first day
· Weekly contact in the first weeks of your placement.
